The Mission of Abundant Harvest House of Prayer is to teach salvation through Jesus Christ, to teach holy living from a biblical perspective and to promote spiritual growth and development.
Abundant Harvest started from the humble beginnings of Apostle Lawrence Samuel Smith Sr.’s West Oak Lane living room in 1994. Apostle Smith was called by God to Pastor his own church and because of his faith God sent him members causing his home to reach maximum capacity. God lead Apostle Smith to a new church home at 1715 Snyder Avenue in South Philadelphia. In eight years time the congregation grew as God added more and more souls to the church. The abundance of members brought about a change from the church’s original name, Refuge Deliverance House of Prayer, to Abundant Harvest House of Prayer. In the ninth year, at capacity once again, worship services were standing room only. Abundant Harvest found its current home at 630 McKean Street and has been there for 13 years.
Apostle Smith along side his wife of 50+ years Lady Alice Smith, pastored Abundant Harvest for 20 years before closing their eyes to be with our Lord. Seven years before their passing the Holy Spirit lead Apostle Smith to appoint his daughter, Minister Beth Allen, his assistant Pastor. Apostle Smith groomed Minister Allen and her husband Deacon Allen for ministry. Although God showed Apostle Smith the vision for Abundant Harvest he knew that it would be the job of his successors to bring it to pass. The transition in leadership can be likened to the Moses to Joshua journey. Apostle Smith, a man of great faith, was lead by the Holy Spirit to build a firm foundation in the Word of God. He equipped Abundant Harvest through teachings from God’s word and handed that legacy down to Minister Beth to carry on in the will of God.
